Faye Bedford Tech Trek Award

AAUW’s Tech Trek is a week-long program for girls entering eighth grade. They stay on a college campus for one week, learning that higher education isn’t just for someone else; it’s an option for them too. They are exposed to state of the art laboratories, science centers and professors that really care about math and science. They perform hands-on activities, and meet female role models already working in STEM fields. Tech Trekkers are more likely to enroll in science and math courses in high school, and continue on to college. They enthusiastically cite Tech Trek for sparking their interest and self-confidence.
