Natalie Conrad, Soroptimist International of Chico
President 2017-2018

President Natalie’s theme was Erase the Stigma of Mental Illness.

Under her Presidency we had a very successful event on Erasing the Stigma of Mental Illness.

ERASE THE STIGMA:
A Community Conversation About Mental Illness

In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, Soroptimist International of Chico hosted a free public forum on May 10th, 2018 at Manzanita Place.

Attendees were invited to participate in open dialogues about mental health issues and support for people with them. There were panelists sharing their tips for being present in the everyday life of work and family while coping with mental illness.

A wide variety of community organizations  also attended this event to provide resource information.

Below are some of our other projects during Natalie’s year:

Dress A Girl Around the World

IMAGINE A WORLD WHERE EVERY LITTLE GIRL OWNED AT LEAST ONE DRESS…
WHAT IF THAT DRESS WAS MADE BY YOU?

Change a life by sewing a simple dress for a girl in need.
Soroptimist International of Chico along with Soroptimist International friends met their goal of making 100+ dresses for girls in 3rd world countries that often fall victim to human trafficking. When a girl’s clothes are worn and tattered, predators think that no one will miss them.

Under the direction of our SI Objectives Committee Chair Julie Curl,  we partnered with our sister club, Sorotpimist International of Bidwell Rancho, and done a seven week session at Fair View High School starting on April 11, 2018 and concluding on May 23, 2018.
